E-MU Proteus 2000

E-MU Proteus 2000

Overview

The E-MU Proteus 2000 is a professional 128-voice sample-based synthesizer module, released in 1999 as the flagship of E-MU's acclaimed Proteus family. Built around E-MU's powerful synthesis engine and expandable ROM architecture, the Proteus 2000 combines thousands of high-quality samples with extensive modulation, flexible effects, and deep programming capabilities. Its versatility and distinctive sound made it a studio favourite, spawning an entire family of instruments including the Mo'Phatt, Planet Phatt, Orbit, Vintage Pro, B-3, XL-1 and Proteus 1000.

Limitations/Quirks

Midisuite supports all capabilities of the E-MU Proteus 2000. The Proteus has a unique way of sending it's multi dumps in that it first loads them into the device's edit buffer. This causes the multi's presets to be loaded, so if the device is receiving midi note data, you will hear the various presets sound as it moves through each of it's multi's.

It also means that if the current multi has modifications (such as a change to a part's preset) those changes will be lost. We recommend saving your current multi before loading the Proteus into your Patches Studio and performing a 'Device Sync'.
